You are here either because I want you to get a better look at who I am, or because you purchased a physical copy of my music! Thank you for supporting me!
In an age where music distribution has gone from an ownership model to an access model, I figured it'd be worthwhile to try and reestablish a direct relationship between artist and listener. I started by only selling CDs, then uploading the EP to YouTube and Bandcamp.
For a while, I avoided uploading my music to Spotify. I didn't want to feed a company that rakes in all the profits from subscriptions while paying fuckall to the musicians who bring all the value to their platform in the first place. It is a company that has nearly monopolized music streaming as an excuse to drive traffic to ads. As a byproduct of that, they've contributed to an enshittification of culture. Musicians today are often pressured to make music that grabs attention and that will gain traction rather than music that is an exploration of the soul. It creates a media landscape of performativity, void of actual human connection or vulnerability. Art should be a conduit for connection, not ads.
At the same time, my pretty little beliefs have only hurt me and the people who like my music. Spotify doesn't give a fuck if I don't upload my music to their platform. I am a level 1 mosquito trying to fight a level 100 Final Boss. And at the end of the day, I care more about creating and sharing my music with people than about sticking it to The Man.
So, begrudgingly, I've uploaded my music to Spotify. I'm viewing this in the same way as factory-farming: eating meat daily has been so heavily ingrained in most people's day to day lives that preaching about its threats to the environment and animal well-being won't outweigh the allure of its taste and convenience. But, when you provide a consumer with alternatives (like vegetarian options at fast food joints) you make beneficial choices more accessible; you can get people to try it out. And I say this as a rather avid meat-eater that occasionally buys veggie meat.
If you want (and have the means) to support me directly, then I encourage you to listen via Bandcamp, buy a CD, or, better yet, come to a show!
We live in an age of hyper-convenience, and when the Pandora's box of convenience has been opened, it will not easily close. It isn't realistic to merely denounce this now ubiquitous platform and expect a significant amount of people to change their habits to something more burdensome in the name of altruistic abstractions.
So, I'll just leave you with this: It is a very different experience to sit on your bedroom floor, entranced by the sounds of an album you consciously purchased, than it is listening to a pre-curated playlist with a bunch of disjointed songs algorithmically blended into some background "mood". Give it a try sometime, and you'll see what I mean. (HERE IS A GREAT PLACE TO START!)
CASE AND POINT, it just feels good to eradicate the middle man as much as possible; remove the mediator of a screen, and come see shows in real life. Play physical music and engage all your senses.
It's good for the soul to minimise the middle man.

Soft announcement: I said I would be taking a small hiatus from doing shows. I am a full-time student, working part-time, and doing shows at the same time has been surprisingly taxing. Requires practice. Social media bullshit. It's stressful. And preventable stress prevents me from fully investing, performing well, or growing sustainably in any sphere of my life. Tuition is also very expensive and I'd rather spend my time at university actually absorbing the material instead of scraping by with passes just to obtain a piece of paper that says I've learned enough to be employable. I ultimately want to be someone who knows things rather than someone that shits out music about her feelings and pretends to know things about the world. I think my best work is a product of processing the things I learn in school-- I'll focus on writing more, learning, and recording and will get back to you when I feel I've got something new and of value to share with you. P.S. the album is coming soon, I promise!!
THAT BEING SAID- I can't go too long without playing a show, and show opportunities inevitably pop up out of the blu(e)-- to stay in the loop, feel free to join my Signal group mailing list! I will post my show dates here! It's a much more practical/effective alternative for non-social media people and people who want to operate outside of META platforms. (I was told by some friends that no one has the time to continuously refresh this HTML page for show updates. Valid! But I'll still be posting here, too.)
I've got my EP in CD form which is available for 10 euros, or pay what you can. I also sell hats, handmade by my mother, for between 60 and 100 euros. T-shirts are in the works. Contact me via email, Signal, or come to a show if you want anything!
Payment can be done via cash or Tikkie.
